poems revision } an april eye rewrite this time

Here’s a bit what I’m working on. I’ve revised this one, but don’t yet understand the revision. poem-image_01I’m working on compiling a private collection for special friends, so I assume that it has something to do with what’s brewing in my head.

From an August’s return

Maybe it’s better if we continued this conversation
Not at all. You say your name is…and
I already knew you. Before, I remember

Flower, delicate magnolia roughsnatched
highjumped branched—that would be
Me. Pretensive then and again. 5AM,

IM-ing off this hook-up site—no less than
ever we were. As always attempting

to complete this puzzle. Or does ego yet
force your fit of me off myself? Either
Or no matter how long I survive

My lives of you…of you and me—of
myself every year pacing sunset to
Sidewalk. And always

The buzzing cicadas recall every
Summer’s end.

photo-spiration { a new poem, in morning light matters

Sometimes some poems just come out of a blankness. Like this new poem here.

Photo of Model Chris Cuba. This photo served as the inspiration for the first line of this poem.

I was staring at this photo. Thoughts of morning, light, leaving this young man reposed held me until a title, a first line lifted from my voice. Like once a negative is exposed to light it declares the edges of photographic subjects, this photo seen through creativity’s pulse, gave me a poem, not from out of an experience, but from many experiences.

new poem, new series { the realizing of meeting frank,

Today, I’m sharing two things. A new poem written today and the full title of a series I alluded to in a previous posting: New poem { in our lives, someone.

The new poem is a part of a series of poems arising from meditations on a particular past relationship. As I’ve been encountering parts of memories, emotional baggage, or even those daydreams which withered or came true.

The series’ title is Meeting Frank,; it is that person’s name and I also meant as metaphorical allusion to the verb frank.

another new poem } from The Fireplace Chronicles

I am feeling all inspired today, two new poems. This doesn’t happen often anymore.

Anyways on the the story, I started a series poem about 12 years ago where I wanted to explore some of the times I spent at a bar in DC I frequented and still do. I found a lot of inspiration hanging out there. I discovered another side of my poetic voice there. I composed many of the poems that made up my thesis and God in Flight. But most of all I found a group of people that I cherish and feel honored to call friends.

As I am working on the revision of God in Flight for April release, I have been coming across a lot of discarded poem scraps or ideas. The following poem is one of them I collected into a Word file called The Fireplace Chronicles. I do not remember if this were to be a book, a sequence, or a chapbook. All I know is that when I re-read this I had to revisit and complete.

New poem { in our lives, someones else

Cleaning our my clippings box on my MacBook, I found a little poem I wrote about after a night out experience. This poem fits into a theme recurring in a lot of new poems I’ve been writing.  I had been thinking of collecting these as a sequence, titled Meeting {         }. I’m hesitant to use it since it is the person’s name.  Though the poems are my takes on the story and a first name only means something to those who know who it is. Also the name can have a meaning about honesty, which these poems explore.

So I wrote the original in March 2004, it is now 2010 and time has passed back to me that night to explore more fully than its original phrases of feelings.
