a welcome chance
On Saturday, May 22, 2010—two months before my 40th birthday—I finally set foot in the DC Animal Shelter to adopt another cat.

Since Blu passed in January, I keenly was aware of the importance of the need to have two cats for several reasons. For one my feet and ankles had become the object of feline claw torture each movement to and from the bed. Then there was Reneseme’s nagging need to always be around me when I was home and to add to that not sleeping at night. Not that I am complaining, this time I had with Reneseme brought our bond quite close. After five months of this and several searing stings in the shower every morning, I knew I had to have another cat.
Actually, I commenced the search for our companion three months earlier. Since Timmy was a shelter foster care cat, I was quite adamant on getting a foster care cat. I found quite a few good possibilities; however, each wound up not working out because either they had found the cat door and had become indoor/outdoor or there was a health issue.
